Description: 1800s precursor of MCM. Less ornate, elegant all the same. Beautiful lines and construction. Remarkably solid yet light. Single keyhole locks both the upper and lower sections. Even the velvet top with rope pull on the slant sections is in remarkably good condition for its age. The base footprint 10” X 14”. Highest point of upper box is right at 10”. There are a couple places with a chip or nick shown in photos and the bottom panel has cracks but is still strong. The ink wells are a nice heavy crystal with some rough edges on the mouths. That said, all sides, edges and corners are in very good condition. All brass is in good condition. Inside upper box lid the lining fabric with cotton backing is aging but, imo, best kept original.
